Yin-Yang Reef, Laamu Atoll

divelog·blue

On the third day of our stay at the Six Senses resort on Laamu Atoll in the Maldives, we did a drift free-dive along the inner and outer parts of Yin-Yang reef.

This was one of our more fruitful dives to date, with many sightings of spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari), hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), white-tip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and even a grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) (not pictured), and several types of rays. The most exciting was coming on a family of Jenkins' stingray (Himantura jenkinsii) and several pairs of spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari).

The dives consisted of long dives to 10 or 15 metres, then drifting with the current and snapping pictures along the way. Lazy!
